Here is my progress for the month of February.

Not as much as I wanted to do this month, but better than nothing at all. I want to finish a full page by the end of April.

Not a lot but progress none the less. I think it is the fabric I hate so much!! Grrrr...

February update

Just made it in time with this month's update on Winter Mandala. My threads for Bramble and the Rose haven't arrived yet but I hope to be starting sometime next week.

Bramble and The Rose stall

I'm a newbie to the group, which I found out about via Claire and Sandra and The Bramble and The Rose SAL that's about to kick off... unfortunately, my threads haven't arrived yet. Have been told they are on their way, so fingers crossed. Need to see actual thread colour before I decide on my linen choice.

A little about me, I live in Melbourne, Australia and have got back into cross-stitch in a big way in the last year or so, partly because of some of the gorgeous Ink Circles designs out, and a lot because bloggers like Claire and Sandra keep tempting me with SALs!

The Bramble and the Rose will be my first Ink Circles design but I have Cirque des Carreaux waiting in the wings, and about to order Namaste, as the chakra designs would make a lovely gift for my meditation teacher.

CdC Feb progress

Hi all~

I've been stalking following for quite while, got my invite last month and finally decided to squeeze in my first post.

I started Cirque des Cercles in January, but had almost no progress. February hasn't been all that great either.

Brandy's Feb Progress CdCx

Progress for February. I am now "officially" caught up and even passed where I was before I did my color change! I havent had much time to stitch this month. Hopefully next month will show more progress.

Fibers: Hand Dyed Fibers in JewelWeed 3169 and Mountain Shadow

January's progress:

February progress - Cirque des Cercles

Even though I only posted my first photo a few days ago, I thought I'd put this one up for you. It's actually closer to what I had done when I first posted, but I hadn't taken a new picture yet. Plus, several of you were nice enough to comment and also asked what colors I was using, so I thought I'd share that too. I don't think the lighting from my iPhone photo really is very helpful, especially for the fabric. It's Lakeside Linens Vintage Autumn Gold, which is much more yellow than this photo makes it look.
The orange circle outlines are Needlepoint Silk "pumpkin range" #866; the green frame and center circle are Caron Collection Soie Cristale #5060; the golden circle outlines are Dinky Dyes #113 "Cobar"; the dark reddish circle outlines are DMC 815. The variegated fill for all the circles is Caron Collection Wildflowers #010 "Fiesta". I still have to work out the color placement for the small filler circles, which is why I haven't done any of them yet! Thanks for your comments!

Thanks for the warning about the end of February approaching - wow time has flown. Here's my start on Sea Stars. I'm using the Vikki Clayton silks, and a piece of Tuttie Fruttie evenweave from Silkweaver.
Ladies you have five more days left of February to post your progresses for this month.

Sea Stars - February Progress

Not vast amounts of progress this month but any is good and goes toward a future Happy Dance, I guess. ;0)

I've added more to the centre of the big central motif and Nessie has now put in an appearance. Now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel with this, as Nessie defines where the bottom edge of the design is. :0)

February progress - Cirque des Carreaux

I knew I hadn't worked on this one for quite a while but was surprised to see that my last progress picture was taken on 13th May 2009! Where does the time go?

And after:

February Progress Winter Mandala

Here is my new start I had earlier this month
I am using the recommended DMC colours for this which is unusual for me as I normally like to go a little different.

Greetings from a newcomer!

Hi, everyone! I finally got my act together and emailed for an invite to the blog - I've been following along for several weeks and watching everyone's work. So -- I guess that means I'd better share mine!
About 3 weeks ago I finally finished Cirque des Carreaux!! So of course, now I have to get down to serious work on Cirque des Cercles --

I actually have more finished on that one since I took the photo, but haven't taken a new photo yet! But that's what updates are for, right? Looking forward to following along with all of you, most likely for quite a while, based on how long CDC took me! Plus, I also have Alchemical Romance waiting in the wings!

Bramble Progress--Feb.

This is such a joy to stitch. I love working with only one color especially DMC 115; I have always loved this colorway. I am loving how this piece looks in a varigated thread. I will have a lot more to show next time :)

Happy stitching!

Update on new start

Here is my start on Dutch Beast. Oma Bea's Moonshine still is complete as well as the Gemini eagle (always in two minds), a Honkin' Big D with cherry donuts around it, the 5 foolish birds begging for Moonshine at the top and last but not least Han's who is Oma Bea's toyboy. This last matter is a cause for concern in the village where they all live and work and many villagers are scandalised at Bea's courgarish behaviour. Even in liberal Holland, this is not proper behaviour.

For the first installment on my version of Tracy's Beast tales here is the relevant blog update

For Tracy's original Beast Tales, see here

I'm off for now but sitting beside me is my friends take on Cirque des Triangles - three shades of blue on Apricot linen. I'd take a photo but I've left the camera lead at home!

Tanglewood - February progress

Here is my progress so far this month, the tree is starting to take shape.  I am guessing that I won't get much more done as I am off on holiday starting Friday with my better half.  Leaving the gloom of Oregon for Hawaii in February, what more can one ask for.

(February Progress) A Happy Dance!!

Cirque des Triangles is finished - hurray!!!!

Blackstone Fantasy Garden--Feb. Progress

I finished the main "outlining" and now I'm just starting to fill in; although this piece will be taking a backseat to my Olympic Stitching project that I get to start tomorrow night.

This will be The Bramble and the Rose. I'm using DMC 115 and 32 count Hand Dyed Jobelan in Queen Anne's Lace--I apologize for the brightness; the linen is actually a little darker.

February update #1 - Growth Rings

I took this pic tonight for another blog and thought I would update here as well
I am really enjoying this pattern.  I actually keep thinking in my head of what colours I will use next time I stitch it :)
Here is where it was at Feb 1st

And here is where I was as of yesturday afternoon (Feb 7th)

A Finished Growth Rings

Here is my finished Growth Rings. Done on 25ct black Lugana in Anchor 187 and 1345 so it has come out quite large. That said, it is not quite as large as the redwood trunk Tracy suggested - yes I have seen how big they really grow as I was taken to Armstrong Woods in California and have seen mature redwoods!
I'm still working on how to finish this but I'm veering towards a wall hanging/quilt but I need to find some complementary colours. The actual colour of the thread is somewhere between vibrant teal and turquoise but due to the limitations of digital photography the colour has been washed out.
I'll admit that I am an IC junkie and this is my 12th finish - Sea Stars, Garden Stars, Hawaii, Peregrinations, Much Heralded, Tanglewood, Xmas Beasties, Alchemical Romance (twice), Second Chances and Quackworth. Next IC start will be Dutch Beast, this week if I ever decide on a fabric!

Tuesday, 2 February 2010

Hi Ladies could I just ask please if you could put in your title if it is January progress or february progress please it'll make it easier for me to see who has made progress for that month please,
Thanks !
Also could you post before and after pics so we can see the progress without having to trawl through previous posts.
Thank you very much

Blackstone Fantasy Garden--1st Post Feb. Progress

Considering that I spend a majority of my time lately knitting, I decided I needed to limber up my fingers a bit if I was going to meet my goal of starting/finishing The Bramble and the Rose during the Olympic Games. So I pulled out Blackstone which has been sulking at the bottom of my WIP pile for longer than I want to admit.

I started this piece quite a while ago and have just pulled it out of the WIP pile.

Fabric: 28 count white evenweave, I can't remember exactly what
Floss: I'm changing the colors from the original piece. So far I've used DMC 814 and DMC 803. I'll be using DMC Impressions floss for the rest of the piece.
Stitched: 2 over 2

When I first picked this back up at the beginning of January, I only had about 1.5 pages done(of the outlining)--now I only have 2 of the 9 pages left before I start filling in :)

an update on growth rings

I did manage to work on my growth rings over the weekend
Here is my progress as of last night.
